Well, then this happened.
Broward County School Superintendent Robert Runcie was recently arrested on perjury charges presented by a statewide grand jury, charges to which he pleaded not guilty. Long before this arrest he was already facing pressure from ongoing criticism over the way he handled to 2018 mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
Runcie announced his resignation late Tuesday and in his statement he said “I cannot put myself above the needs of our district." He also said, “we’re unfortunately in a climate where forgiveness, compassion and love have far too often taken a back seat to grievance, anger and hate.
