We've been getting nonstop rains in several areas of South Florida with storm Eta approaching Cuba over the weekend and expected to affect Florida early next week. Since so many areas in South Florida are prone to flooding, sandbag distributions are super helpful.
Fort Lauderdale has set up a sandbag filling and distribution site for residents at Mills Pond Park, 2201 NW Ninth Ave. The site will be running from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, or until the supply is exhausted. You will need to bring your own shovel and the limit is 10 bags per car.
The City of Doral will also have sandbag distribution on Saturday, Nov. 7 and Sunday, Nov. 8 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m at Doral Central Park. While shovels will be available on site, it is self service.
The City of Hialeah Gardens has a third distribution site at 13601 NW 107th Ave., Hialeah Gardens operating on Sunday, Nov. 8 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.or until supplies last. This is for Hialeah Gardens residents only.
