Cirque du Soleil Files for Bankruptcy Amid COVID-19 Cancellations

This is the LAST thing I wanted to learn about today. I've been a diehard Cirque du Soleil fan for years. Covering their shows, taking you behind the scenes at their performances and rehearsals. It breaks my heart to hear that they're filing for bankruptcy.

The announcement came Monday morning from the company's headquarters in Montreal. They are seeking a debt restructuring protection under its home country’s Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA).The company said in its filing announcement the refinancing move was “in response to immense disruption and forced show closures as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Cirque du Soleil shut down all 44 of its shows in March, laying off 95 percent of its workforce, including more than 1,300 in Las Vegas.

I'm hoping all the restructuring will make the company stronger while keeping its essence.
