We're right in the middle of hurricane season here in South Florida and halfway through the Atlantic Ocean Tropical Storm names, so if you haven't yet devise a plan to evacuate in case things go bad!

Both Miami-Dade and Broward counties have Storm Surge planning zones as well as evacuation tips they have published online so that SoFlo residents know what to do when the time comes. Here's a preview of the zones:

Miami-Dade...

  • Zone A is at greatest risk for storm surge for Category 1 and higher storms.
  • Zone B is at risk for storm surge for Category 2 and higher storms.
  • Zone C is at risk for storm surge for Category 3 and higher storms.
  • Zone D is at risk for storm surge for Category 4 and higher storms.
  • Zone E is at risk for storm surge from Category 5 storms.

Broward...
